Columbia Gorge/ The Dalles

Left very early this a.m. worried about getting a spot due to the holiday. Drove through pastures and then wheat fields for hours. Amazing side of Oregon! We arrived at Deschutes River Recreation Area. Got a spot on grass, primitive spot, no hook ups for 2 nights. Clouds are forming and rain is in the distance. We are right on the Deschutes river (well within a short walk). Saw some guys with BIG fish walking by. Jack is very excited to try out his new waders. Temp is in the 70's and rain has now arrived. We are sitting in a dirt parking lot in Rufus using their wi fi! Will post some pics of this area and hopefully a fish too on another day. Cooking steak outside tonight should prove to be a challenge in the rain!
